Free MBBS for injured is not against rule, claims Education Ministry

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has claimed that providing free MBBS education to those injured during the youth movement is not against the Act and Rules.

According to the provision of Medical Education Commission, scholarships are distributed on the basis of merit and legal criteria.

Issuing a press release today, the Ministry clarified that the government has decided to provide special scholarship under the special scholarship quota as an additional quota and not under the free scholarship quota as per the National Medical Education Act, 2075 BS.

The ministry has claimed that this decision of the government has not curtailed or hindered the opportunities for others as per the prevailing laws.

The decision was taken at the request of the Medical Education Commission as per the Clause 11 of the Work Procedure on Providing Relief Assistance to the People Injured and Disabled in course of the Youth Movement, 2082 and the proposal of this Ministry as per the regulation.
