We are planning to make Kathmandu free of people in need of help by managing the economic, social and family condition of the people living on the streets, mental and physical condition and habits of the people. ’
Acting Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Sunita Dangol, informed about the plan after carrying out an on-site inspection of the situation of assistance at the Pashupati area on Wednesday morning. During the observation, the security personnel of the Pashupati area shared her experience that people come on motorcycles to ask for their begging.
Chairman of Manav Sewa Ashram, Ramji Adhikari, said that he had met people who used to come to the Pashupati area by taxi and return by taxi.
After listening to their experience, Dangol said that there is no one. Which has nothing. Due to physical and mental conditions, other life options cannot be used. She said that such people would be given shelter, knowledge and skills would be provided and those who could be employed in the profession would be included in employment-oriented and self-disease-oriented programs.
Bal Krishna Acharya, mayor of Dhunibesi Municipality in Dhading, expressed his commitment to help make the campaign a success.
Member-secretary of the Pashupati Area Development Trust, Prakash Mani Sharma, pledged to provide a holding room used to house the people rescued from the Pashupati area.
