Kathmandu. Ugandan women arrested from Firechowk at Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26 are to be deported from Nepal.
Police had arrested 20 women from Thamel on March 24 for investigation. Research has shown that women in Thamel have been bargaining men for obscene work by blocking the road.
The police investigated women involved in sexual acts. Superintendent of Police (SP) Pawan Bhattarai of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, said that the District Administration Office has decided to impose a fine of Rs 5,500 on the charge.
After taking action against them, the police had sent them to the Department of Immigration for action under the Immigration Act. The Department of Immigration has decided to deport them.
After the decision to deport, all the arrested women have returned to their country. SP Bhattarai said that they have been barred from entering Nepal as per the decision of the immigration.
The police investigation concluded that the gang had brought them to Thamel and forced them into sex work.
