Kathmandu. “The Government of Nepal has made its position clear on the border disputes including Lipu Lekh and the government is fully committed to ensuring that these areas are Nepali territory,” the statement said.

Talking to media persons, Minister for Education, Science and Technology and government spokesperson Sasmit Pokharel said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already made its official position public on the border dispute. He clarified that the issue would now be resolved through collaboration between the two governments and diplomatic dialogue.

He clarified that the note issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was not only for public information but also a formal letter.

Referring to the statement issued by the Indian government recently and the point in which Nepal was trying to expand the border, Pokharel said, “It is not the issue of border expansion, these areas are Nepal’s territory.” The government is clear on this and is committed to its stand. ’

On the topic of merger of ministries, he said although there was no concrete discussion on the issue in today’s meeting, study was being done on technical and legal aspects of it. Responding to a query about the restriction on the entry of media persons, he said it was not a restriction but an attempt to make the internal movement and entry more easy and systematic.
