Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Traffic Police took action against 1,962 drivers and road violators in the Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours. According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, Rs 889,000 revenue has been collected from this action.
According to the Traffic Police, increasing traffic congestion, haphazard parking, careless operation and ignorance of traffic rules have contributed to the increasing risk of road accidents. Regular checking, monitoring and special campaign have been launched to control it.
According to Traffic Police Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi, the highest number of traffic violators are 905.
Similarly, 102 drivers were impounded for drunk driving and 147 were taken for breaching ride-sharing rules.
Similarly, 211 drivers were taken for breaching red light, 197 for speeding, 53 for lane encroachment, 88 for encroaching on road and footpath, 116 for violating the no-horn zone and 143 for one-way traffic on the road.
SP Subedi said the main objective of traffic police is not only to collect revenue but also to make citizens responsible to traffic rules.
