Kathmandu. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has urged people to stay alert as extreme heat and hot winds are likely to prevail in western Tarai for the next few days.
The NEA has put Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Doti, Kailali and Kanchanpur on high alert while Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Arghakhanchi, Palpa and Surkhet among other districts have to be updated. In many places of these districts, the temperature has reached 40 degrees Celsius and above.
Doctors say that due to excessive heat, health problems like fatigue, weakness, headache, dizziness, fainting and vomiting can appear.
The authority has urged the people to stay indoors when the sun is shining, to cover their head with thin cloth if they have to go out, to drink plenty of water and to drink lemon water and fruits. The NRA has also urged the children not to play in the scorching sun and to work in the fields only in the morning or afternoon.
