Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Gokarneshwor Municipality in Kathmandu has appealed to the people to stay alert after the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (bird flu) in various wards of the municipality.
Issuing a notice on Monday, the municipality After bird flu was detected in Ward No. 2, 3 and 4, the operation to control the infection has been intensified by destroying the food and other items of the birds in the area.
According to the information, works are underway to safely destroy the ducks, chickens, quails, gourds, eggs and feed in the infected area and bury them in the pit and disinfect the area.
The municipality has banned the entry of unnecessary people and vehicles in bird farms to prevent the spread of the disease.
Directives have been issued that a person working on one farm should not go to another farm, not to reuse used egg crates and to use a sidewalk at the door of the farm with lime or disinfectant pesticides compulsorily. In addition, farmers have been asked to use separate boots and aprons while entering the coop and disinfect the coop on a daily basis.
Similarly, the municipality has urged the poultry farm premises to stop the entry of animals such as dogs, cats and mice, and to bury the dead birds in the pit immediately. Veterinary certificate must be obtained while transporting poultry products and the general public has been advised to consume meat and egg products only after they are properly cooked.
The municipality has urged people to immediately contact the nearest livestock service branch or local level if a large number of birds fall ill or die.
