Republican nation building is a great inspiration and responsibility: President Poudel

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Poudel has said that the republic has guaranteed us all political rights and this was a great inspiration for us for nation building.

Addressing a ceremony organised at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel on the occasion of the 19th Republic Day 2083 today, President Poudel said that the republic was a great inspiration and responsibility for nation-building.

“The republic has guaranteed us all political rights. It has also provided an opportunity to move ahead unitedly for a prosperous future, it has united the countrymen and has inspired them to resolve to build a common nation. Because it has given ownership of its caste, language, religion, sect, civilization and land. Therefore, this is a great inspiration and responsibility for us for nation building,” he said.

He stressed the need to be united with political integrity, values, and change in conduct to save the dignity of the republic and make it more prosperous.

President Poudel said republic was not only a system but also a well-behaved political, economic and social way of life.

“It has its own values and moral scope, which we cannot fulfill the responsibility of history by forgetting them,” he said, adding, “May this day inspire us to move ahead in the highest and meaningful exercise of federal democratic republic along with social justice, development and prosperity and to integrate politics, state and administration within the border of morality, integrity and values.”

Stating that the government with a strong people’s mandate was formed after the successful conclusion of the House of Representatives election, he said that the government has decided to take ahead good governance, improvement in public service delivery, economic revival, zero tolerance against corruption and social progress as its basic guidance for prosperity. He also expressed the belief that the government’s decision to carry out structural and legal reforms for borderless economy and weightless trade by fully implementing one hundred agendas of governance reforms would raise hope among the people.

“We all need to understand that changes in the political system and governance structure will not meet the expectations of the era, it is necessary to bring changes in the character, conduct, political integrity and values of the state power,” he said. Otherwise, our behavior will not prove political change,” he said.

“Today, our biggest enemy is none other than delay, irregularities and irregularities,” he said.

He stressed that we should be concerned that the citizens who have a beautiful dream of a democratic republic should not be disappointed by these evils.

Stating that the people are seeking prosperity with good governance, he said that it is necessary to optimally utilize our resources for this.

President Poudel said, “We can connect governance with the life of citizens through economic development and prosperity. This is our historical responsibility for today. In this sense, today is a reminder of our historical responsibility. I hope we don’t forget this responsibility. ’

Stating that political achievements alone would not be enough to link change with the lives of citizens, he said that we need to change our character of governance and change the character of politics, party and leaders.

“I believe that there should not be any delay in making our politics, our style of governance, political parties and people’s representative institutions fully democratic, fair, competitive, just and effective to realize the meaning of republican excellence,” he said.

He said that efforts should be made with full dedication and humility to strengthen the achievements we have made. President Poudel also stressed the need to ensure economic and social prosperity along with social justice on the basis of political rights.

Stating that the federal democratic republic stipulated by the constitution stipulates political, economic, social, religious and cultural freedoms as well as justice to the faceless people and income to the poor, President Poudel said that although various types of rights have been mentioned, the issue of providing opportunity to the people to enjoy freedom and uplift their living standard is the end of the philosophy carried by the Federal Democratic Republic.
