UML’s 8 ward chairpersons vacant after quitting party

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has declared the vacant posts of eight ward chairpersons elected from the CPN-UML. The UML representatives who were elected in the local level elections of 2079 BS left the party and joined other political parties.

The UML’s central secretariat had informed the EC about the decision taken by the people’s representatives to quit the party. Based on this information, the meeting of the EC decided to fill the vacant posts in accordance with Clause 32 (1) of the Political Party Act, 2073 and Rule 22 of the Regulations, 2074.

The posts of ward chairpersons in Koshi, Bagmati and Lumbini provinces have been lying vacant. Those relieved of their posts are Molung Rural Municipality Ward No. Kamal Bahadur Baniya of Ward No. 1 and Kamal Bahadur Baniya of Ward No. 1 Kamal Tamang of Champadevi Rural Municipality-6 and Ward No. 6 of Champadevi Rural Municipality. Likewise, the post of ward chairperson of Ward No. 7 Suresh Kumar Thapa has also been vacant.

Likewise, Raj Kumar Panthi of Mathagadhi Rural Municipality-1 of Palpa, Hom Prasad Bajgai of Bagmati Rural Municipality-7 of Lalitpur and Ram Kumar Shrestha of Letang Municipality-4 of Morang have been vacant.

Mahesh Kumar Khanal of Rangeli Municipality-1 of Morang and Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City Ward No. 1 of Dang Similarly, ward chairperson of Ward No. 4 Madhusudan Sharma has also been relieved of his post.
