‘We won’t spare wrongdoers even if they belong to our own party’: Home Minister Gurung

Kathmandu. Minister for Home Affairs Sudhan Gurung has said the government would not spare wrongdoers. Talking to media persons after the meeting of the Disaster Management Committee, he said that he had already directed the security agencies on the same basis yesterday.

He said, “Service is our religion. The security agencies are in the service of the citizens. A meeting was held yesterday with the chiefs of all the security agencies on everything from crime control. We are ruthless in this. We don’t see our own party as someone else’s party. We call wrong wrong. ’

He claimed that political pressure and maneuvering in the security agencies has ended.

Gurung said that the government has been preparing for disaster management. He said the Home Ministry and the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure are coordinating with regard to the disruptions on several roads including the East-West Highway, the Prithvi Highway and others.

He said a digital system has been developed to provide information about the location of the necessary equipment to open the road immediately during disasters like flood and landslide. According to him, the location of dozers and other equipment can be identified and deployed at required places quickly through a concept-based system like ride-sharing app.

He added that the government would move ahead by correcting the weaknesses by giving continuity to good practices and not only criticizing the past government’s performances.
