Four women arrested for beating children tied to tree in Bara on charge of stealing mobile phones

Kathmandu. Police have arrested four women for their alleged involvement in the incident of thrashing four children tied to a tree in Tangiyabasti of Jeetpur-Simara Sub-metropolis-16 in Bara district.

According to the police, the children were tied to the base of a banyan tree and beaten mercilessly. Those arrested are Mina Rajan Magar, 62, Pabi Kumari Ale Magar, 32, Ranimaya Mottan, 30, and Nirmala Waiba, 42.

Spokesperson of District Police Office, Bara and Deputy Superintendent of Police Min Bahadur Ghale said that the incident took place on Tuesday. Police have arrested all the four for further investigation after getting information about the incident, he added.

The Bara District Court has remanded the accused in custody for five days for further investigation. Police said they were collecting evidence on all aspects of the incident and legal proceedings would be initiated based on the conclusion of the investigation.

The locals also expressed serious concern over the inhuman treatment meted out to the children. The police have said that no one will be allowed to indulge in such misbehavior by taking the law into their own hands and action will be taken against the culprits as per the law.
