BP Highway reopens after water level in Roshi River recedes

Kathmandu. The BP Highway, which was closed for traffic since Wednesday morning due to rise in the water level in the Roshi River, has resumed.

Vehicular movement on the highway was closed due to the safety risk due to the rise in the water level in the river. Vehicular movement resumed this morning after assessing the safety situation following the receding water level.

With the opening of the highway, the vehicles that were stopped at various places have headed towards their destinations. Police have urged the passengers and drivers to travel with caution and take safety precautions.

Last year, the floods in the Roshi River had damaged various sections of the BP Highway. The reconstruction of the flood-damaged highway is still underway.

Currently, vehicles are being operated by constructing diversions in the river. As the vehicular movement is being operated from the temporary diversion, the vehicular movement has to be stopped once the water level in the river rises.

Similarly, the public has been urged to know the condition of the road before travelling and follow the directives of police and bodies concerned as the water level in the Roshi River may rise at any time during the rainy season.
