5 arrested for cheating people on the pretext of sending them abroad

Kathmandu. Police have arrested 5 people on the charge of cheating money on the pretext of sending them to different countries with the promise of lucrative salary for foreign employment.

The arrestees have been identified as Sushma Bhandari, 29, of Jhapa, Karina Devkota, 28, of Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-9, of Kathmandu, Sajan Khanal, 27, of Jhapa, Pema Lama, 34, of Suryabinayak Municipality-1, Bhaktapur, and Tom, Kumari Thapa, 27, of Okhaldhunga, of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15.

Among the arrested, Sushma had filed a complaint against Kareena who had taken Rs 250,000 from one victim on the pretext of sending her to Lithuania, Sajan took Rs 1.2 million from one victim in the name of sending her to Finland, Pema took Rs 100,000 from one victim in the name of sending her to Romania and Toma Kumari took Rs 1.35 lakh from one victim in the name of sending her to Malta.

Acting on a complaint filed by the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, a police team from Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested Sushma from Budhanilkantha Municipality-10 on Friday, Karina and Sajan from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-3 on Sunday, Pema from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-12 and Toma Kumari from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15 on Monday.

They have been sent to the Foreign Employment Department, Tahachal, Kathmandu for necessary investigation and action.
