Kathmandu. Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has been supplying petroleum products and LP gas to the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding areas through the Tribhuvan Highway (byroad) after the road was disrupted along the Krishna Bhir section of the Prithvi Highway.

On September 28, when the Prithvi Highway collapsed due to the erosion of the Trishuli river, the tankers carrying fuel and gas bullets were stopped. After this, the corporation started bringing gas cylinders filled to Kathmandu by using alternative routes.

According to the corporation, about 24, 500 cylinders were brought to the valley on August 2, 500 and about 34, 134 cylinders on September 2. Gas industries have been instructed to continue refilling and transportation even on public holidays to keep the supply system smooth.

Meanwhile, the NOC has been supplying aviation fuel and cooking gas for the search and rescue operations in the flooded Bhotekoshi River on August 23 that devastated Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan districts.

So far, 120,000 liters of aviation fuel has been refueled from the Nepal Army barrack in Nuwakot for the rescue helicopters.

Similarly, 575 LP gas cylinders have been supplied to temporary shelters in Rasuwa and Nuwakot at the request of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
