‘We will build new cities for flood-affected people’: Infrastructure Minister Lamsal

Kathmandu. Infrastructure Development Minister Sunil Lamsal has said that there is a plan to develop a new city for the flood-affected people.

Speaking at a meeting of the Development Committee of the House of Representatives, Minister Lamsal said that it was impossible to rebuild the settlement in the flood-damaged area. “Now we will go for the concept of building a new city,” he said, “Now we have to go in a different way than the earthquake, we have no plan to return to the place where the damage was done.” ’

According to him, all facilities will be available in such cities. He said that the government is planning to build a new city by incorporating facilities like industries, hospitals, schools and purchase necessary land for the same.

He said that the floods have taught the local governments a lesson to be equipped to deal with the disaster.
