More than 200 vehicles from India to arrive Nepal in third phase

. An additional 223 vehicles are to be brought to Nepal targeting the upcoming elections. This is the third consignment of vehicles that the Indian government is going to provide as a gift to Nepal.

According to a source at the Indian Embassy, 150 units of double cab pickup Mahindra Scorpio and 73 units of double cab pickup Mahindra Bolero are being brought to Nepal in the third tranche.TAG_OPEN_p_11

In the first consignment, 61 vehicles were brought to Nepal, which were handed over to the Government of Nepal by the Indian Embassy on January 21.TAG_OPEN_p_10 The Government of India has decided to provide a total of 538 vehicles, both small and large, to Nepal for the elections.

The Ministry of Home Affairs, through the Ministry of Finance, had requested vehicles from the Government of India for the purpose of the election.TAG_OPEN_p_9 All vehicles received will be provided to the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Indian Embassy and the Ministry of Home Affairs will distribute them to the concerned authorities as per the requirement.

On September 23 and 24, during a demonstration by youths of the Genji generation demanding corruption and good governance, buildings and vehicles were damaged in the police offices. As a result, the demand for more vehicles from various districts is increasing in preparation for the elections, according to officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

} The vehicles received with the assistance of the Government of India for the purpose of elections may be used by the Government of Nepal as per the need after the election.
