CIAA raids house of mayor of Kamalamai Municipality

Kathmandu. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) raided the house of Upendra Pokhrel, the mayor of Kamalamai Municipality in Sindhuli district. On Monday, a team deputed from the Bardibas branch of the CIAA went to Pokharel’s house in Sindhulimadhi and interrogated him.

The reason for the raid was that the timber extracted from the old meeting hall was demolished and misappropriated. According to the complaint, the CIAA is investigating the misappropriation of timber kept behind the city police barracks.

According to an official of the CIAA, no timber was found during the raid at the house of Mayor Pokharel.TAG_OPEN_p_2 Further investigation is underway, he said.
