Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — The Kathmandu District Administration Office (DAO) has appealed to the public to celebrate the Holi festival in a dignified, disciplined and safe manner.

The administration has imposed strict restrictions on this year’s Holi due to the election code of conduct and security sensitivities.

The notice signed by Assistant Chief District Officer Mukti Ram Rijal states that the public authorities have been urged not to disturb public decorum by creating noise, quarrelling and consuming alcohol. The administration has warned of taking action against those who smeared colours, threw water cannons and forced them to do so.

The CDO office has stressed on following the election code of conduct as this Holi is linked to the election time. T-shirts, caps, scarves, badges, masks or lockets with the election symbol of any party or candidate have been banned during Holi.

The administration has urged people to celebrate Holi only with their family and relatives inside the compound of their own house without causing any hindrance to anyone. Gathering on open roads and in public places, organizing fairs and festivals, organizing musical programmes and selling and consuming alcohol have been banned.
