Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Press Council Nepal has urged all to fully abide by the code of conduct during the silence period. The Election Council reminded that apart from the advertisement, talk-show, comment, analysis and question-answer programmes in favour of or against a political party or candidate should not be held from today until the polling centres are closed on the day of the election.
The Council has stated that immediate action would be taken as per the Journalist Code of Conduct, 2073 BS and the Election Code of Conduct, 2082 if any violation of the code of conduct during the silence period is done.
Council’s deputy spokesperson Ram Sharan Bohara said the issues violating the code of conduct would be documented as the basis for evaluation, classification and payment of other public welfare advertisements.
The Council has urged the media, journalists, media persons and social media users to remain more sensitive, alert and aware of adhering to the election code of conduct during the silence period.
