Election Day Two Days Left: EC directs Code of Conduct Monitoring Officer

Kathmandu. The Election Commission (EC) has directed the Election Code of Conduct Monitoring Officer to be directed. The EC has directed the authorities concerned for the effective implementation of the special code of conduct to be observed from today until the polling stations close on the day of the election.

The election to the House of Representatives is taking place on March 4. In order to ensure enforcement of the election code of conduct, Assistant Chief District Officer and Chief of Fund and Account Comptroller Office have been assigned as Election Code of Conduct Monitoring Officer with different responsibilities.

The EC has also directed the Election Commission to monitor the effective enforcement of the election code of conduct as per the provisions of the election code of conduct from today to March 4.

The Election Code of Conduct-2082 has reminded the Election Code of Conduct-2082 regarding the special conduct to be observed from 48 hours before the voting day until the polling centre closes. Directives have been issued to carry out micro monitoring in their respective districts to make the implementation of the provision effective by monitoring the conduct to be followed on the day of the election.

Directives have been issued for the effective enforcement of the code of conduct in collaboration with the District Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee if any act is found violating the election code of conduct and the Election (Offense and Punishment) Act-2073 BS. Accordingly, the EC has urged the government not to carry out the prescribed works as per the prevailing laws and election code of conduct during the prohibition period.
