Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party (NCP) leader Barshaman Pun has appealed to the party rank and file not to be distracted by the failure to get the expected results in the elections. Leader Pun, who reached Kavre, said that the NCP would move ahead by shaking the dust.
“We will move ahead as per the aspiration of the country and people by re-evaluating the ideology, politics, organisation, leadership, style and methodology,” he said. Stating that the NCP would restructure itself as per the people’s aspirations and the country’s need today, Pun claimed that they would lead the country again someday.
He admitted that the people had voted for them even when they went to the polls with the agenda of transformation and good governance.
“We were not, are not and will not be in favour of the tendency of firing on youths who were taking part in peaceful demonstration on September 7,” he said. Similarly, we were not, are not and will not be in favour of destroying the Singha Durbar on the 24th. But the people also thought we were old-fashioned. We are old, but we are not the same old. We have tried to change the situation. We will go back to the people. ’
He added that the party should resolve to rise from the dust in a new way by assimilating the sacrifices of the martyrs without any arrogance, deviation and despair.
“Even during the 10-year people’s war, there were many big sacrifices, losses and defeats. But the leadership did not give up. We didn’t give up. We have to re-evaluate our thoughts, politics, organization, leadership, style and methods so far with a cool mind and once again we have to move forward on the path as per the aspirations of the people of the country. ’
He said that the people have expressed their opinion to the new political parties through the election and warned the old parties and leadership to change their working style and methodology. Pun made it clear that the people’s incursions should be taken as an opportunity to correct them.
Recalling that Prachanda had at one time led the People’s War with a total of 60 full-time cadres across the country, he said many people thought it was foolish to say change through People’s War.
Stating that the People’s War launched by 60 people was supported by thousands of farmers, workers, intellectuals and the general public, he appealed to all to transform and build a party that would lead the country.
Pun claimed that the then government led by Prachanda had launched a strong campaign against corruption for 18 months and the youths had launched an agitation on September 6 following the same campaign. He said that despite repeated warnings against the misrule of the government led by Prachanda, the NC and UML, which came to power by toppling the Prachanda-led government, did not pay heed to their heed and that is why the incidents of September 23 and 24 took place.
“We don’t know where the country is heading, where the people are heading. “We warned the then ruling parties from the streets and parliament that Bangladesh was going to explode like Sri Lanka. However, there was no hearing. Public sentiment exploded in the form of the Genji Rebellion. ’
Calling on the party to launch campaign of good governance, equality and employment as well as to consolidate the country’s existence and independence through balanced diplomatic relations, Pun pledged their cooperation in those causes.
