“I resigned from the post five times but the leadership stopped me, now we will hold the general convention at our own expense”: NSU President Sherpa

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepal Student Union (NSU) has set the date for its 12th general convention on April 15 and 21.

NSU President Dujang Sherpa has revealed that the general convention was delayed due to the delay in the party leadership not providing the statute on time.

According to Sherpa, the party has not returned the statute even though it has been a year since the present committee, which was given the mandate for the general convention after the implementation of the 32-year age limit, amended the statute and submitted it to the party. He said that if the statute had been received on time, the general convention would have been held before September 8.

President Sherpa said that he had submitted his resignation to the party leadership five times during his tenure but the party leadership stopped him saying that he would leave only after holding the convention. Breaking the illusion that the general convention would be expensive, he announced the plan to hold a grand convention at a very low cost. He made it clear that funds would be collected from former NSU members scattered around the world in a transparent manner and no financial support would be taken from the party. He claimed that now the way has been opened for the students to choose their own leaders and policies.

“We have also scheduled the 12th general convention of Nepal Student Union (NSU) on April 15-21. And who are you willing to delegate, friends, we are not allowed to run away from the convention again. And now it’s been a long time since the students will make their own policies, almost four years.

And in the meantime, I had rejected the leadership of the party five times. Now, I have not said many things on social media and in the media till date. But after I completed the first FSU election, which was held after 12 years of your tenure, I had requested the leadership of the party to resign.

And now they have said that they will resign after the convention. After that, when the second FSU election is coming to you, the new leadership should hold this FSU election, I will resign because I had said at that time that my mandate is the convention.

After all the office-bearers of the party, all the office-bearers of the party, all the office-bearers of the party, sat together, called a meeting and instructed us to go for the FSU election, then we went to the FSU election again. And again this time in the FSU election, for the second time, we were established in the first position by the Nepal Student Union. And even after the second FSU election is over, if you don’t give us a statute to the leadership, we will give you a way to your resignation.

And let me tell you one more sad thing. We have many ideological groups within the party. And while going through the second FSU election, I told the party leadership that I need a disciplinary committee to accuse you of being a rebel candidate.

It took me almost three years to get a disciplinary committee. It took me two and a half to three years. ’

President Sherpa said that the days of student leaders carrying the bags of the leaders are over.
