Budget 2048 BS will be transformative and historic: Finance Minister

Kathmandu. During a meeting with the office-bearers of the Stock Brokers Association of Nepal, Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle said that the upcoming budget will be as transformative and historic as it is after 2048 BS. During a meeting with the Association office-bearers this morning, Minister Khatiwada said the government was serious focused on good governance works to bring Nepal out of the grey list.

He said, “We have to bring Nepal out of the grey list. That’s what public opinion is all about, that’s what we’re focused on. ’

Stating that the national independent party and the government were not against the private sector, he said works were underway to transform the country’s economy.

“Next budget would be as transformative and historic as it is in 2048 BS”, he said, adding, “Now is the golden period for the country’s economy. ’

According to him, some of the investigations are old but are now in the final stage. He made it clear that the perpetrators of the crime would not be spared, but no selective revenge would be taken against anyone. Claiming that the government is private sector-friendly, he said that his first decision would prove it.

Clarifying the government’s stance on the share market, he said his party was liberal towards the share market and the manifesto has clearly stated its vision. He urged one and all to be aware of the rumors being spread in the market in recent times.

During the meeting, former president of the association, Priya Raj Regmi and other representatives complained that false rumors were being spread in the market. They said that some groups that have exited the stock market and are trying to re-enter the market are spreading rumours that are trying to scare away small investors.

The representatives said that there was a need for conducive environment in the market for institutional investors and that although the research on the private sector was justified, it should be conducted in secret. He also urged the government to implement the recommendations of the Capital Market Reform Taskforce.
