Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has accused former Home Minister Sudhan Gurung of being implicated in the probe committee through a probe committee. Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Bhishma Raj Angdembe said that the probe committee formed by the government may try to give clean chit to Gurung instead of finding out the truth. Angdembe said, “The committee should conduct an impartial investigation. ’

He demanded an impartial investigation into the allegations against Gurung. After the formation of the committee, Angdembe called it a positive step. However, he said that the credibility of the committee depends on its impartiality. Angdembe said that the committee should bring out the truth without being influenced by politics.

Gurung, a former home minister, was embroiled in controversy over his share investment and financial ties with controversial businessman Deepak Bhatta. Gurung had resigned from the post of Home Minister on April 9 citing moral grounds after questions were raised publicly.

Three weeks after resigning, the government has formed an investigation committee. The government on Thursday formed a three-member probe committee under the leadership of former judge of the High Court, Achyut Prasad Bhandari.
