Stock market rises 27 points to close at Rs 6 billion

KATHMANDU: The stock market posted a double-digit rise on the first trading day of the week. The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index increased by 27.85 points to close at 2,786.35 points today.

Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has reached its highest level in almost a month. On April 28, the NEPSE index had reached 2,796 points.

Today, the indices of all groups except mutual funds have increased while the index of hydropower group has increased by one and a half percent. Shares of 235 companies rose today and 28 declined. Similarly, the shares of 7 companies have remained unchanged.

Shares of Three Star Hydropower Company Ltd surged by 9 percent today. Overall, shares of Bungal Hydropower fell by 10.32 percent on the day.

Today, the transaction amount has also increased along with NEPSE. A total of 14.5 million units of shares of 342 companies were traded for Rs 5.98 billion compared to Rs 4.49 billion yesterday.

This transaction amount is more than about 1 month. Shares worth Rs 6.53 billion were traded on April 29.
