‘India visit laid the foundation to take Nepal-India cooperation to new height’: Foreign Minister Khanal

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Shishir Khanal has said that his recent visit to India has prepared a basis for further strengthening Nepal-India relations.

Briefing about the visit in a meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, he said the visit has provided an opportunity to articulate Nepal’s balanced and multi-dimensional foreign policy in a more forceful way.

According to him, during the visit, there were meaningful discussions on expansion of trade and investment, strengthening energy cooperation, tourism promotion, expansion of connectivity and strengthening people-to-people relations. They also exchanged views on contemporary international issues such as supply chain security and energy partnership.

“This visit has provided an opportunity to articulate Nepal’s balanced and multi-dimensional foreign policy in a more forceful manner,” he said. It has prepared a solid foundation for expanding trade and investment, strengthening energy cooperation, promoting tourism and strengthening connectivity and people-to-people relations. Views were also exchanged on contemporary international issues such as supply chain security and energy partnership. ’

Minister Khanal expressed the belief that high-level meetings and discussions held during the China visit would help take the diplomatic and economic cooperation between Nepal and India to a new height.

He said he felt that the visit has prepared a strong basis for forwarding result-oriented cooperation in areas of common interest between the two countries in the coming days.

“I feel that the discussions and high-level meetings held during this visit have prepared a strong basis to take the diplomatic and economic cooperation between Nepal and India to a new height and to advance result-oriented cooperation in areas of mutual interest in the days ahead,” he said. ’
