China will adopt friendly policy towards Nepal, not allow Nepal’s land to be used against China: Khanal

Kathmandu. Minister for Foreign Affairs Shishir Khanal, who is on a visit to China, is busy holding high-level meetings. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing on Monday.

Stating that China has always kept its relations with Nepal at an important place in its diplomacy, he said it has adopted a friendly policy towards all Nepali people.

Recalling that Nepal and China have been good neighbours since many years, Wang said Nepal would always be a reliable neighbor and partner in the journey of development, prosperity and modernization.

During the meeting, Wang also mentioned that “a close neighbor is better than a distant relative”. Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said China would always support Nepal in safeguarding its national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity and in pursuing a development path in accordance with its national conditions.

China is willing to work with Nepal to jointly advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, focus on cooperation in power grids, highways, border ports and aviation, and help transform Nepal from a landlocked country to a landlocked country. ’

Wang called on the two sides to make full use of various cooperation platforms and mechanisms, deepen practical cooperation and promote cultural exchanges.

“China encourages Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Nepal, and hopes the Nepali side will provide a more equitable and transparent trade environment,” he added.

On the occasion, Khanal expressed gratitude to China for its long-standing support for Nepal’s national development and improvement of people’s livelihood.

“Nepal is firmly committed to One China Policy. Supports China’s efforts to achieve full reunification. We will never allow any force to use Nepal’s territory to undermine China’s interests,” Khanal said.

“Nepal welcomes investment from China and is willing to provide a fair, law-based and friendly business environment to Chinese enterprises,” he said. ’
