Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan University (TU) has directed its professors and staffers who have not returned to service after completing their studies leave to come into contact within 15 days.

Issuing a public notice on Wednesday, the TU Teaching Leave Management Implementation Committee urged the teachers and employees who have not returned to the service as per the rules of the University after avanessing the holidays and left the ÷service without completing the stipulated period to contact the Committee’s office.

It has been clarified in the notice that legal action would be initiated as per the agreement and rules made with the university if they do not come in contact within the stipulated time.

According to TU, more than Rs 11.84 crore has been returned from 50 professors who did not return to service after taking study leave. This process has been initiated at the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Sports and the active participation of TU.

The university has stated that the study leave is a special facility to provide skilled, research-oriented and international standard academic manpower. However, some professors have misused the study leave and did not return to service after completing their studies, causing financial, educational and academic loss to the university.

Reminding that there is a provision that the professors utilizing the leave facility have to fulfill their service obligations as per the agreement, the TU has said that the process of recovering the remaining amount will be continued.
