Nepali language and literature should be enriched by acknowledging the contribution of Bhanubhakta: Speaker Aryal

Kathmandu. Speaker of the House of Representatives Dol Prasad Aryal stressed the need to not only remember the contributions of Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya but also work for the development of Nepali language and literature by internalizing the path shown by him.

Addressing the 213th Bhanu Jayanti Special Programme held at the Nepal Academy in Kamaladi, Kathmandu on Monday, Speaker Aryal said that Bhanubhakta’s contribution to Nepali society, language and culture is historic.

He also stressed the need for not only remembering Bhanubhakta but also taking a pledge to further enrich Nepali language and literature by practicing his contributions.

He was of the view that it was the collective responsibility of all to preserve the language, culture and literature amidst modern technology, global competition and changing social structures.

“The simplicity, clarity and closeness shown by Bhanubhakta are equally relevant even today,” he said. We need to attract the younger generation towards Nepali language and literature. By encouraging creativity and innovation, Bhanubhakta’s ideals should be transformed according to the times. ’

On the occasion, Speaker Aryal said that the writings of Bhanubhakta Acharya have contributed to spreading awareness among the general public by spreading awareness about the Nepali language in every household. Stating that the Nepali language has strengthened Nepal’s cultural unity, he said the Nepali language has been working to connect Nepalis not only within Nepal but also abroad in a single emotional thread.

He said language is not only a medium of communication but it is an important base linked to a country’s identity, culture and history. Joint effort from the state, litterateurs, educational institutions and new generation is essential for the preservation and promotion of Nepali language and literature, he asserted.
