Action taken against 39 more manpower companies for sending workers from foreign airports

Kathmandu. Action has been taken against 39 more manpower companies for sending workers abroad without the approval of the Department of Foreign Employment.

Issuing a notice, the Department has fined the workers Rs 50,000 each for sending Nepali workers to foreign employment without their approval.

According to Clause 22 of the Foreign Employment Act, 2064, workers should be sent using domestic airports. The Department had sought flight details of the workers sent abroad for foreign employment after obtaining labour permit from Chaitra 1, 2082 to Jestha 14, 2083 for monitoring and studying the implementation of the provision. The Department has taken action against a total of 598 manpower companies for not furnishing details and using foreign airports without obtaining permission.

Earlier, the manpower companies that had not submitted the details were directed to submit the details again. On the basis of this, 39 manpower companies who submitted the details but sent the workers using foreign airports have been taken to task.

Similarly, 124 manpower companies have also been taken to action for not following the directive to submit details twice. They have been asked to explain why they should not be fined Rs 50,000.

The Department has slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 on 39 organizations for the second time as per Clause 54 of the Foreign Employment Act, 2064.
