Bhotekoshi flood floods flood in Trishuli River, at risk of settlements in Dhading

Kathmandu. The flooding in the Trishuli River has increased the risk of flooding in the coastal areas of Dhading. Chief District Officer of Dhading, Laxmi Pandey Gautam, informed that the flood is moving downstream from Malekhu and is reaching the vicinity of Kurintar.

According to him, the floods have caused huge damage to the physical infrastructure. She said that concrete and suspension bridges have been washed away by the floods. However, no human casualties have been reported so far, she said.

Talking to Nepal News Bank, she said, “Now it has come down from Malekhu. Now the flood is almost reaching Kurintar. The flood is very big. Settlements are now being relocated, but no human casualties have been reported so far. The physical damage is a very big loss. Bridges, concrete bridges, suspension bridges have also been swept away. ’

According to Chief District Officer Gautam, the settlements on the banks of the Trishuli River and rivulets including Galchhi, Baireni and Malekhu are at high risk. She said that the people of the vulnerable settlements are being shifted to safer places.

Teams from all three security agencies have been mobilized for rescue and relocation. Security teams have been mobilized from other districts as well and the local levels are also engaged in rescue and management, said Gautam.

She said, “This risk is not only Galchhi, Baireni, now this Malekhu and now the settlements on the banks of the river are all at risk.” Now all the teams have been mobilized for the rescue. The teams of all the three security agencies, now the entire team of other districts, all the municipalities are working. ’

The flooding in the Bhotekoshi River from Tibet has also increased the water level in the Trishuli River.
