Schools in flood-hit areas closed indefinitely

Kathmandu. Schools in Nuwakot, which were affected by the flooding in the Trishuli River via Bhotekoshi, have been closed for an indefinite period. All schools in Kispang Rural Municipality, including Bidur Municipality, which were affected by the floods, have remained closed, while the operation of educational institutions in the affected areas is uncertain.

Rajan Shrestha, mayor of Bidur Municipality, said that preparations have not been made to resume the school immediately as students, teachers and guardians are missing due to the floods and the damage caused to the school structures, roads and bridges have made it difficult to move around. According to him, the school will be operational only after the daily life becomes a little easier and one can cross the river.

According to Nawaraj Sapkota, chief of the education section, the size of the damage has increased as the impact of the flood has not been estimated to be unimaginable. “Some schools have been on high alert to prevent major accidents,” he said, adding, “The current situation and daily life are unusual. We will plan to conduct the study through alternative means after some time.” ”

A dozen of the 83 schools operating in Bidur Nagar, which is the worst affected by the floods in the Trishuli River, have been directly affected. According to the data of the education department, four school buildings have been completely damaged.

According to the preliminary data prepared by the Education Development and Coordination Unit, Nuwakot, all the structures of Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School, Ramchandra Primary School, Chetana Secondary School and Trishuli Community Boarding School have been damaged and only one block is left in the area. Similarly, three blocks of Uttargaya English Boarding School and the hostel building are completely damaged and only one block remains. The hostel for the visually impaired students of Chandeshwori Secondary School, Shaheed Jagat Prakash Jung Shah Sanskrit Secondary School and Pioneer English Boarding have been damaged due to damages in the vicinity of the enclosure. One bus belonging to Ram Chandra Secondary School and two buses of Uttargaya English Boarding School have been swept away by the floods.

Similarly, in Kispang Rural Municipality, a holding center has been set up in two schools to accommodate the displaced people who have been displaced by the floods, while a holding center has been set up in Belkotgadhi. Shiladevi Secondary School in Belkotgadhi-7 has been directly affected by the flood and Mahadev Secondary School in Ward No. 5 has been directly affected by the flood.
