Bhotekoshi floods: 1,403 bodies recovered

Kathmandu. As many as 1,403 bodies have been recovered till 8 am on Wednesday due to the devastating floods in Bhotekoshi of Rasuwa.

A total of 1,401 dead bodies were recovered in 1,401 including 193 in Rasuwa, 202 in Nuwakot, 72 in Dhading, 364 in Chitwan, 78 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 232 in Nawalparasi East and 222 in Nawalparasi West.

Similarly, 2 people died in course of treatment in Kathmandu.

So far, 1,235 bodies have been managed (preserved under the soil) after completing the necessary procedures to identify the bodies found. A total of 3,190 DNA samples, including 1,286 of the deceased and 1,904 of the relatives, have been collected for the identification of the bodies.

The details of 1,361 unidentified bodies have also been uploaded on the Nepal Police website.

So far, 7,975 police personnel have been deployed in the flood-affected areas for rescue, search, relief distribution, dead body management and other works. Search is underway for 4,089 people who have gone missing so far.

Similarly, 2,084 people have been kept in holding centers in different districts.
