6 types of government documents can be used to vote even if you don’t have a voter ID card

. The Election Commission has made it clear that voting can be done even if one does not have a voter identity card. According to the EC, the voters can take Nepali citizenship certificate, passport, national identity card, driving license, land ownership certificate and any other government document mentioned in the voter identity card.

To participate in the election, it is mandatory to register your name in the voter list.TAG_OPEN_p_3 Registered voters generally have to carry voter ID cards while voting. However, if the identity card is not available or destroyed, one can vote with one of the above documents.

The election will be held on March 21. The Election Commission has also been providing information for voters’ queries through the call centre.
