. Police in Siraha have arrested two members of a gang that took Nepali youths hostage on the pretext of job in Bihar, India. The arrestees have been identified as Suraj Mukhiya, 26, of Kalyanpur Municipality-7 and Prashant Chaudhary, 22, of Lahan Municipality-11.
According to the details of the incident, the gang members lured 28-year-old Rishkesh Kumar Marik of Kalyanpur-7 online to get a good job in a construction company in Gaya, India.TAG_OPEN_p_7 On January 20, Marik was taken captive in a hostel in Bodh Gaya.
There he was snatched from his mobile phone and educational certificate, locked in a room, beaten, and mentally tortured. Threatening to kill him, he extorted Rs 2,17,200 from his family through QR code and bank account and also looted Rs 30,000 in cash from his family.
Marik had managed to escape to Nepal after he started teaching criminal activities in the name of training from the place where he was held captive.TAG_OPEN_p_5 Police had intensified search after a complaint was lodged at District Police Office, Siraha on January 29.
According to Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Bahadur Pal, Suraj Mukhiya was arrested from Kalyanpur on January 30 and Prashant Chaudhary from Lahan on January 30.TAG_OPEN_p_4 The court has remanded both of them in custody for further investigation.
