42 Genji martyr families get Rs 21,800 pension per month

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Urban Development has decided to provide a monthly pension of Rs 21,800 to the families of 42 people who died during the agitation on September 9.

According to Narayan TAG_OPEN_p_5 Regmi, spokesperson of the ministry, the pension amount will be released from the reconstruction fund for 10 years. A total of Rs 11,90,28,000 will be spent on this project in 10 years.

76 people died during the movement, in which all but those who escaped from prison were declared martyrs. Three of them were policemen, but pensions are now available to only 42 families other than the police.

The Ministry of Finance has said that it has not approved any file for relief.TAG_OPEN_p_3
