Kathmandu. Opposition parties have demanded the government to operate fair price shops, citing the rising price of goods. A meeting of the opposition parties presided over by CPN-UML’s National Assembly parliamentary party leader Prem Prasad Dangal on Thursday demanded the government to control price hike.

“The prices of daily consumables such as pulses, rice, vegetables, fruits, spices, oil and other food items used in the kitchen have increased sharply. Inflation has touched the sky,” the meeting concluded, adding, “Therefore, we demand to immediately control inflation and black marketeering and establish a public distribution system for the poor, labourers, farmers and marginalized communities and operate fair price shops.” ’

NC parliamentary party chief whip Gana Thapa and NCP chief whip Yubaraj Dulal were also present in the meeting.
