Kathmandu. Police have arrested a woman for allegedly cheating money on the pretext of sending her to Iraq for foreign employment.
The arrested is 55-year-old Sancha Maya Tamang, a permanent resident of Balefi Rural Municipality-5 in Sindhupalchowk and currently living in Budhanilkantha Municipality-4, Kathmandu.
She had deceived unemployed youths for a long time by luring them with lucrative salaries and taking them to Iraq for employment. A police team deputed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, started the investigation on the basis of the complaint filed by the victims after they went out of contact without being sent abroad.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Tamang had cheated a total of Rs 10 lakh from three victims. He was arrested from Pasikot of Budhanilkantha Municipality Ward No. 4 of Kathmandu on August 27.
Superintendent of Police Rameshwor Karki, information officer at the Department of Foreign Employment Office, said that Tamang has been arrested for further investigation and necessary action.
