Kathmandu. Chief Whip of the opposition party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Khushbu Oli, has questioned the good governance and transparency of the government.
Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday, she demanded a parliamentary probe committee to investigate into the appointment of the Executive Director of the Software Development and Operation Centre under the Office of the Prime Minister.
Kiran Timsina, coordinator of the task force formed on May 26 to prepare the work procedure as per the timeline presented by lawmaker Oli in the parliament, accused him of preparing the rules and criteria for her appointment later.
As evidence, she shared a picture of Timsina posting ‘O Boy This Was Tough’ on LinkedIn and then cutting a cake with the staff of the Prime Minister’s Office. Lawmaker Oli said that the interview was done in a hurry on September 18 and the information was hidden for 5 days even though the cabinet decided on the same day.
“What kind of good governance is this that it prepares its own question papers, participates on its own and celebrates even before the advertisement is opened? Who stopped the government with 182 MPs from bringing the bill? Politics is not done by asking the right questions at the right place. ’
She also drew the attention of the Prime Minister by terming this incident as an ‘open setting’ against the spirit of the Good Governance Act, 2064. Similarly, raising the issue of citizenship of overseas Nepalis, she expressed dissatisfaction over the double standards of the government.
He said it was unfortunate that the statement from the Minister for Foreign Affairs (MoFA) was not possible when the Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) demanded continuity of their citizenship.
