Kathmandu. The District Administration Office, Syangja, has urged the citizens to surrender their permitted firearms in view of the election to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 4.
According to the administration, all types of arms and ammunition permitted by the local administration have to be handed over to the District Police Office, Syangja, nearby police office or police unit within February 20 to ensure the peaceful and safe election.TAG_OPEN_p_5
Assistant Chief District Officer Prem Subedi said the decision was taken to minimise possible risks as security would increase during the election period and it was the responsibility of the state to conduct the election in a peaceful environment.TAG_OPEN_p_4
The administration has said that after the election, the weapons will be returned by April 20 and the process will be in accordance with the law and standards.TAG_OPEN_p_3 It has also warned of action as per the law if the weapons are not handed over on time. It also urged all citizens, political parties and stakeholders to play responsible role to ensure fear-free and safe election.
