. KATHMANDU — The closed list submitted by the political parties towards the proportional representation system for the election to the House of Representatives has found that the number of women is more than that of men.
According to the closed list released by the Election Commission, there are 1,772 female candidates and 1,363 male candidates.TAG_OPEN_p_9 A total of 63 political parties are participating in the proportional representation system while the EC has allocated a total of 57 election symbols.
According to the EC, a total of 3,1 TAG_OPEN_p_8 35 candidates have been listed in the closed list. According to the EC, the final list was published as per Clause 29 of the Election of the Members of the House of Representatives Act, 2074 and Sub-rule (2) of Rule 16 of the Election of the Members of the House of Representatives Regulations, 2074.
According to the EC, the names of 76 candidates have been removed from the closed list due to various reasons.TAG_OPEN_p_7 Among them, 21 are from the blacklist of Credit Information Centre and 25 people from the closed list of PR system for the Provincial Assemblies.
Likewise, the EC has also removed the names of 10 candidates who did not pay the fine, one who did not fall under the voters’ list and 10 candidates who were removed from the list at the request of the concerned political party.TAG_OPEN_p_6
The election is scheduled to be held on March 4 and there are 29 days left for the election.
