Kathmandu. Counting of votes has begun in Rukum East. The vote counting began at 5:30 am today, said Chief Election Officer Shiva Prasad Khanal.

As Lumbini is a mountainous district, ballot boxes from three remote areas were brought by helicopter yesterday. However, the counting was delayed as it took time to bring the collection from some areas to the district headquarters.

Former Prime Minister and Nepal Communist Party (NCP) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal has filed his candidacy from this constituency.
