Kathmandu. Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) lawmaker Ramesh Kumar Malla has drawn the attention of the government towards the incidents following the self-immolation of Ganesh Nepali, parking a vehicle in front of the media house and the alleged arrest on citizens.

Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, lawmaker Malla expressed his dissatisfaction over the statement made by the Prime Minister from the rostrum of the parliament for the past one and half months.

He said the death of 25-year-old Ganesh Nepali due to self-immolation has shocked the country and that attempts were being made to twist the incident.

He also demanded an impartial investigation into the recent incidents of obstruction of roads in Kathmandu, parking of vehicles in front of media houses and political activities.

Lawmaker Malla said that the activities of parking a vehicle suspiciously in front of the media house and searching for the residence of the leader of the main opposition party were serious issues. He said that strict action should be taken against those involved in such activities and not just a simple fine.

“It is wrong for the state to try to govern through fear and panic. The perpetrators and planners of such activities should be investigated and punished at the earliest,” he said.

He said that the responsibility would not be fulfilled only by issuing a statement by the ruling party and urged to take the incident seriously.
