Govt should take responsibility for Dewangunj incident: Angdembe

Kathmandu. Main opposition Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Bhishma Raj Aangdembe has said that the government should take responsibility for the incident that took place at Kaptangunj of Dewangunj Municipality-3 in Sunsari district. Stating that failure to maintain peace and security was the weakness of the Home Ministry, he said the Home Minister should answer about the incident.

In a statement posted on social media on Monday, Angdembe expressed sadness over the death of two people and injuries to dozens. Expressing his tributes to the deceased, condolences to the bereaved families and wishing for speedy recovery of the injured, he demanded an impartial investigation into the incident and action against the guilty.

Angdembe accused the government of failing to fulfill its constitutional obligations. He said that failure to maintain peace and security was the weakness of the Home Ministry. “The Home Minister should answer this incident. Failure to maintain peace and order is the weakness of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the government should take responsibility for this incident. ’

Angdembe also said that dissatisfaction with the government has been increasing in recent times. “Lately, there has been intense dissatisfaction among the citizens against the government. As a result, horrific incidents like self-immolation have been repeated time and again. ’

“Violence, arson, vandalism and revenge will not solve any problem,” he said, calling on all sides to exercise restraint. They have also demanded that the government conduct a fair, independent and transparent investigation into the incident and make the truth public and take action against the guilty as per the law.

He said that the security personnel should maintain an environment of peace and security by abiding by the law and exercising maximum restraint. He also appealed to one and all to find a solution to the problem through dialogue, tolerance and legal process without following rumours and provocations.
