Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has expressed deep sorrow over the death of world-renowned mountaineer Nirmal Purja and his team members in an avalanche at Broad Peak in Pakistan.
Issuing a condolence statement today, CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel said that the party was deeply shocked and saddened by this unimaginable news.
The deceased have been identified as Pur Bahadur Gurung, Kili Pemba Sherpa, Nima Sherpa, Nawang Thindu Sherpa and Gyaljen Sherpa.
The CPN-UML has said that the mountaineering sector and the entire nation have lost their invaluable national heritage and courageous descendants with their untimely demise.
