I will work to resolve problems of Gorkha: Home Minister Gurung

Kathmandu. Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has pledged to work to resolve the problems in Gorkha district.

He made the commitment at an interaction programme with intellectuals, industrialists and entrepreneurs of Gorkha district.

After listening to the participants’ complaints and suggestions, Home Minister Gurung said that he has been in the government only for 6 months and expressed his commitment to take necessary initiatives for the development of Gorkha and resolving the problems of the citizens.

Recalling that Gorkha had made him the Home Minister, he said he would take the problems and expectations of the people of the district seriously.

On the occasion, the participants drew the attention of Home Minister Gurung towards various problems surfaced in the district, the status of development works, marketing of agricultural products, tourism promotion and challenges in the industry sector.

Intellectuals, industrialists and entrepreneurs participating in the programme complained that the government has not paid enough attention to the development and promotion of Gorkha despite having tourism potential.

They demanded that the construction of necessary infrastructure should be prioritized to speed up the overall development of the district.

Similarly, the issue of farmers facing problems due to lack of proper market and price for agricultural production was also raised. Stating that the government has not been able to play an effective role in agricultural production and marketing, the participants stressed that the vegetables produced by Nepali farmers should get priority in the market.

They said that the government should take concrete initiatives to end the situation of local products not getting market and to ensure proper price to the farmers.

On the occasion, the industrialists and entrepreneurs shared their views on the problems surfaced in the operation of industries and businesses in the district and the need of improving business environment.

The participants of the programme stressed on the need of effective role of the state to expand economic activities and create employment opportunities at local level by utilizing available resources and potentials in Gorkha district.
