After that, he and his wife left the house by putting their clothes in a bag. Recalling the moment when he went out to save his life by putting Rs 50,000 in his pocket that he had set aside for Dashain expenses, he said that the damage caused by the floods was unimaginable.

The pain of the locals who have become homeless due to the tragedy of the floods is still the same. According to local Raj Kumar Dahal, even after a long time since the floods, the necessary sanitation and rehabilitation work has not been done by the state in the affected settlements. The locals are also doing the work of removing the collapsed houses, piled up soil and garbage at their own expense and labor.
“Houses have been demolished by floods, roads have been blocked. We also have to work to remove the mud and debris piled up in and around the house,” he said, adding that no effective help has come from the state so far. Relief from various organizations has also been returned. ’
The flood victims, who lost their homes during Dashain, had taken shelter in the building of Chulidevi School. However, Dahal said that they had to face more problems due to lack of adequate accommodation and food arrangements there. According to him, the locals complained that the people’s representatives and concerned bodies did not reach to know the real situation of the flood-affected people and to inspect the damaged settlements.
} He accused the people’s representatives and other stakeholders of focusing only on the new bridge area damaged by the floods, but ignoring the destruction within the settlement. Locals are also trying to ease the movement of the damaged roads and roads by opening the road from house to house.
Even though the dozer came, it could not reach the settlement. We had to demolish the houses and open the road with the help of the locals,” he said, “We have suffered a lot of losses, but there is no one to listen to our pain and speak about it. Let the state understand our situation.”TAG_OPEN_div_56 ’
