Kathmandu. Rautahat Constituency No. The Office of the Chief Election Officer has filed a complaint against Madhav Kumar Nepal, a candidate for the House of Representatives from constituency 1.

The office has refused to register Nepal’s candidacy citing lack of sufficient evidence.

Another candidate for the House of Representatives, Ram Naresh Raya Yadav, had filed a dispute against leader Nepal. The complaint states that Nepal was involved in the Patanjali Yogpeeth land purchase and sale scam and the corruption case was sub-judice at the Special Court.

Yadav argued that Nepal’s candidacy should be scrapped on the basis of various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Election of the Members of the House of Representatives Act.

However, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer said that there was no concrete and sufficient evidence to substantiate the allegations made in the complaint. According to the Office of the Election Officer, the complaint was filed as there was no strong basis to invalidate the candidacy as per the law. With this decision, Nepal’s candidacy remains intact.
