Kathmandu. There was a general correction in the stock market on Monday. The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index fell by 3.07 points to close at 2,769.09 points on Monday. Although there was a slight decline in the market index, the amount of transactions indicated that investors were active in the market.
As the election atmosphere is increasing across the country, the stock market is also gradually on the path of recovery. The total transaction volume crossed Rs 16.35 billion on Monday when investors returned to the market. A total of 3,62,64,000 units of shares of 332 companies were traded in NEPSE through 1,47,676 transactions, which is an increase of Rs 2.5 billion compared to Sunday.
At the beginning of trading, the NEPSE index was closing at 2772.17 points. After fluctuating throughout the day, the index finally fell by a modest point. According to the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), the share prices of 165 companies fell on Monday.
Banking, development banks, finance, investment, life insurance, microfinance, non-life insurance, others and trade groups decreased. The banking group decreased by 2.36 points, development bank by 3.78 points and the finance group by 12.14 points. Similarly, life insurance companies decreased by 71.46 points and microfinance by 25.54 points.
However, hotel and tourism, hydropower, production and mutual fund groups have increased. The hotel group increased by 127.68 points and the manufacturing group increased by 38.94 points.
Shares of 88 companies increased on Monday, while prices of 7 companies remained unchanged. Share prices of SY Panels, Himstar, Sanvi Power, Saptakoshi Development Bank and Mountain Hydro have hit the positive circuit.
Despite the general correction seen in the market indices, the growth in the transaction volume and the activity of investors is expected to keep the momentum of the stock market positive in the coming days.
