Kathmandu. The Election Commission (EC) has sought clarification from five candidates for the House of Representatives. The EC has sought clarification on the basis of a complaint filed against the election code of conduct. The EC has sought clarification from Balendra Shah (Balen) of Jhapa constituency-5, Harka Sampang of Sunsari-1, Kamal Bhusal (Nicholas) of Rupandehi-2 and Mahesh Basnet of Bhaktapur-2.
In Balen’s case, another candidate KP Sharma Oli has sought clarification on the comment he made on social media. In the case of Nicholas Bhusal, the government has sought clarification on the issue of promoting the iconic shoes of the Genji movement as the election symbol. In the case of Hark Sampang, clarification has been sought on the use of children in election campaigning, wearing T-shirts, etc. In the case of Mahesh Basnet, the court has sought clarification on the issue of calling Balen a calf.
Candidate Januka Pathak of Bhaktapur-2 has also been clarified. He was asked to explain why he had made hateful comments against the candidate. Similarly, an explanation has been sought from the Health Volunteer Association. The committee has sought clarification on the conduct of the convention after the election code of conduct was implemented without permission.
